The Nuway Crushing Whitehorse Huskies saw their season come to an end a day shorter than hoped on Friday evening with a 7-3 loss to the Fort St. John Flyers.

The Huskies got off to a quick start again, scoring only 33 seconds into the game. Fort St. John will now face the Terrace River Kings in Saturday’s final. The Huskies finish third place in the provincial championship tournament.

Derek Klassen scored the winning goal with two minutes left top cap a third period comeback over the Fort St. John Flyers on Thursday evening.

The Terrace River Kings locked up top spot with a 6-2 win. The Huskies will face the Flyers again Friday at 7:00 in the tournament semi-final.

Derek Klassen scored less than a minute into the Huskies’ second game of the Coy Cup, but the Huskies ultimately fell 6-3 to the host Terrace River Kings.

Despite the loss, the Huskies will advance beyond the round robin after the Fort St. John Flyers defeated the Smithers Steelheads in the early game.

The Nuway Crushing Whitehorse Huskies kicked-off the 2016 Coy Cup tournament with a 6-5 victory over the CIHL champion Smithers Steelheads. Kevin Petovello lead the way with two goals, including a buzzer beater to close out the first period.

The late game saw Terrace and Fort St. John tie at 3-3, putting the Huskies in top spot after the first day of competition.

The Huskies downed the Powell River Regals in a three game series to move on the the BC provincial Senior AA championship tournament where they will play for the Coy Cup.
